Walking around Manhattan you can always discover something new or at least something interesting at places that you've been before. Today while looking for a bargain at SYMS (didn't find one) but I did notice the new installation at Lever House across the street at 54th Street and Park Avenue. The lobby gallery is free and open to the public and features a changing exhibit of contemporary and modern art. This installation by Tom Freidman features works created out of aluminum foil and is part of the Lever House Collection. While the pieces are all sculptural, 2 of the pieces are especially interesting. "Aluminum Foil Thing" is a Christmasy fantasy mobile piece which combines a cupcake, ice cream cone, hamburger and a skeleton as well as a couple of hundred other things. The smallest piece "Aluminum Foil Circle" is composed of small foil figures holding hands and dancing. While you walk around the display case the figures seem to interact with the crowds walking past on Park Avenue or with the office workers enjoying their lunch hour in the interior courtyard.
